Partnership for
Student Success
The North Central Workforce
Investment Board hosted the region’s
first Partnership for Student Success event on February 14th 2008 at the Sheraton
Four Points Hotel in Leominster, Massachusetts.
Andrew Sum, Professor at Northeastern
University and Director of the Center for Labor Market Studies delivered our
key note presentation on the region’s
drop out rate and the economic, employment and social consequences faced by youth
that do not finish high school. To view the entire
presentation click here (PDF,

Then students from a wide variety of programs that provide
support to youth through the Workforce Board, community based organizations,
public education, and our local colleges presented in a number of breakout sessions
key elements to their “Success.”
Programs provided information about their services and students were able
to convey to the audience their experiences and the positive impact these programs
have had on their lives.
Students also created displays with information and photos of some of the
activities they are involved in at the various programs. This was truly a day
for adults to listen to young people and to here about a vast array of programs
and services in our region that are having a positive impact on youth.
